Khóc Cô

 Hôm nay 18-10-2023 là ngày giỗ thứ 11 của Cô Khưu Sĩ Huệ  

Xin ghi lại những kỷ niệm với Cô trong ngày Cô từ giã cỏi trần.

Giáo sư Khưu Sĩ Huệ sinh ngày 6 tháng 7 năm 1934 tại Trà vinh, tỉnh Vỉnh bình. Cô đi du học ở Đài loan năm 1952, tốt nghiệp cử nhân ở Đại học sư phạm quốc gia Đài loan( National Taiwan Normal University) và dạy học ở Đài loan cho đến khi về nước. Năm 1963 cô tốt nghiệp cao học ở  đại học Chenchi (national Chenchi University) ở phía Nam thành phố Đài bắc. Cô về nước năm 1963, làm ở bộ giáo dục, sau đó dạy ở Đại Học Sư Phạm Sài gòn cho đến ngày 30-4-1975. Ngoài ra cô còn dạy ở đại học Văn khoa Sài gòn, Đại học Cần Thơ, đại học Vạn Hạnh ở Sài gòn và đại học cao đài ở Tây ninh. Cô mất ngày 18 tháng 10 năm 2012 tại tiểu bang Virginia, Hoa kỳ.

 

Bốn mươi năm trước chia tay nơi ngưỡng cửa [1] 
Cô dặn con tránh khúc khuỷu của cuộc đời
Thương học sinh và thân ái với mọi người
Làm cho đúng với lương tâm người giáo chức

Con nôn nao và lòng biết bao rạo rực
Về thôn quê nơi cùng cực ở chân trời [2]
Sống và cố làm cho hạnh phúc xa xôi
Hy vọng đổi đời các em nơi xóm nhỏ

Mấy tháng trước đây Cô cùng con to nhỏ
Mà ngày hôm nay Cô lại bỏ con đi
Đứng nhìn Cô mà không nói được câu gì
Mắt ràn rụa con ngã quị nơi Cô ngủ

Trời hôm nay mưa dầm gió mây ủ rũ! [3]
Con tiễn Cô về nơi yên ngủ nghìn thu
Cô ơi! Cô đến miền Cực Lạc xa mù
Nhưng hình ảnh Cô thiên thu con ghi nhớ!

All Memories of our Professor:

Mrs. Hue had a wonderful time taking care of her family, her society and her teaching career. She was an encouraging lady and no one could image what she did. In April 1975 her husband received a death threat from the Chinese communist organization. They demanded that he get out of Vietnam within 24 hours. She and one of her students planned to hide him in a safe place, just outside Saigon. Every day after dark, she carried dinner to him. Many times the communists tracked her but she was able to distract them and keep her husband safe. After many days in hiding, her husband was able to fly to Taiwan safely but had to leave her and the 6 children behind. After the fall of Saigon on April 30, 1975 she organized to sell her house and planned take her 6 kids to escape the Vietnamese communists by fishing boat. During her journey she and her kids were seized by the communists many times. From one jail to another jail, she managed her family very well and finally she and her kids escaped to Thailand. Later she joined her husband in Taiwan. She started her family over with two empty hands. She did not stop looking for a better future for her children and once more moved her family, this time to the United State of America. Here, she again started a new life in America. She worked hard to support her children going to college. In addition to managing her family, she was a great community leader; she was a translator for Cambodian, Vietnamese and Chinese families in New port news area. She would volunteer her time to take them to the doctor, hospital and social offices. Any time they needed her, she was always beside them. The most admirable attribute of her life was a teaching career. She graduated from the school of pedagogy in Taiwan, earned a master of education and then dedicated her life for education in Vietnam. At the school of pedagogy from the University of Saigon, She taught Vietnamese students about education philosophies and Chinese language. Chinese language is a most difficult language to learn but she was able to teach her students how to read, write and speak Mandarin. Sometimes her students got tired and wanted to give up; she encouraged them and guided them to success. She always taught her students with loving, caring and motivation. She explained to her students that one word to make your teaching career successful is “forgiveness”. If you are a teacher, you must have a great heart to embrace your students. You must allow your students come to you and your job is helping them, not punished them. She was always a positive person. She was a person for society. She was great teacher and she was a wonderful mother and wife. Today many people and her students around the word think about her and they will be missing her. Her students will not have a chance to be face to face with her and listen to her voice but her image, her picture, is always in her students' heart.

Dear Linh and Alex, I am Hana Nguyen Chase; my sisters were your mother's students in Saigon 1970's . We are so sad to learn of your mother's passing. She was a wonderful teacher of us. This must be a very diffucult time for you. Please know that our thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathies are with you. We hope your sadness passes quickly and you are left with a life-time and beautiful memories. She is always in our memories as a treasure. I am not sure you can read Vietnamese or not.
